Stafford HC 1st team, ended the first half of the season with a slightly disappointing 2-2 draw away at Kidderminster HC.
Stafford started in the best possible fashion with a great early goal from James Gillingham, the ball was played out wide to John Peatfield who’s cross was played beautifully into the path of Gillingham his first touch of the game was to deflect it through the goal keepers legs to take the lead. Unfortunately for Stafford they could not go on a take control of the game.
Kidderminster gradually brought themselves into the game and were able to equalise after a defensive mix up saw the Kidderminster forward have a free shot, Brad Evans pulled off a great save but Stafford could not clear the rebound and the ball was forced home. Kidderminster then took the lead with another sloppy goal, the ball deflected behind the Stafford defence and a Kidderminster player was not picked up and was able to slot the ball home. Stafford did win a couple of penalty corners but were unable to make them count and trailed at the break.
After half time, Stafford upped the tempo but Kidderminster just put 11 players behind the ball, Stafford were struggling to break down the barriers until Dan Howe pounced on a loose ball to level the game. After that, Stafford had all the pressure, they came closest to scoring when John Peatfied, pushed the ball onto the post. Stafford though felt they had dropped two points on the final whistle.
Stafford are in mid table, but will be hoping to improve their consistency in the second half of the season.
