2nd team result – Stafford – 4, stone -4

Stafford continued their unbeaten run with what felt like a loss of 2 points, rather than us gaining one.

As the seconds have gotten into the habit of recently, we started very slowly and struggled to get a foothold in the game, with Stone taking advantage of some poor Stafford play and scoring the opening goal. Stafford struck back through Bendall, finishing well after a slick passing move involving both Minton and Trotter.

Stone took the lead on the stroke of half time through a shirt corner, and Stafford came out for the second half much more determined, forcing the Stone keeper in to a number of good saves. Stone then caught Stafford on the counter to take a 2 goal lead, and this seemed to wake Stafford up, with Bendall notching a further 3 goals to take it to 4-3 with 5 mins to go. Stafford desperately wanted to hold on, but Stone went on the all out offensive, successfully penning our defence in and the pressure told with an equalising goal in the last couple of minutes.

Overall a decent performance – far from our best but far from our worst – and we look forward to our double header against Streetly and Bloxwich next weekend.

Scorer – Bendall 4 (four!)

MOTM – Bendall!
