Stafford Whynots travelled to Whitchurch on Thursday to face Market Drayton in their second summer league game. Despite the team doctor arriving without any kit, Stafford were quick to rally round and find him an outfit, even if the shorts were a little tight from the lost property basket (aged 8-10).
Stafford fought their way through the first half with some excellent passing between the young side, with Falconbridge and Trotter linking up well against a solid Drayton defence. Meanwhile, Simms held the Stafford defence together and kept Drayton at bay. Ball came close to scoring, as did Peatfield, but both were unable to find the net. Whynots nearly took the lead before half time through Marsh, only to see his shot saved on the line by a Drayton foot.
The second half saw Stafford dominate more of the play, and with Hollands and Howe pressing through the middle they were eventually awarded by a well struck strike by Sillito to take the lead. After some long aerial balls by Rowden (and a somewhat dodgy aerial from Buka), Stafford continued to press hard but Drayton did not give in. Evans played a great game throughout and kept Stafford in the lead, but a well worked attacking move from the Drayton side saw a well deserved equaliser towards the end.
Final score: Market Drayton 1-1 Stafford Whynots
Scorer: Nathan Silitto

Next week Stafford have a club game, before travelling to the same pitch again the week after to face hosts Whitchurch.
Overall, another great performance.
