Stafford HC 2nd team moved to second in the league after an impressive 2-1 victory last weekend against Solihull Blossomfield.
The Riverway side looked up for the challenge from the start, with James Wild and Nathan Silitto causing chaos for the opposition defenders. A number of crosses just failed to see a final touch. Solihull then found their feet and created a number of their own chances but the twin pairing of Andy Simms and Alex Peatfield managed to clear the lines.
Eventually Stafford took the lead after Chris Sunderland converted a Richie Gibbons cross, Stafford thought they had doubled the lead before Richard Bendall owned up to an infringement.
The second half saw Stafford continue to put pressure on but to limited avail, eventually Sunderland grabbed his second after he finished smartly from a narrow angle.
Stafford then made the mistake of sitting back and Solihull grabbed a goal after a neat deflection wrong footed Paul Taylor-Grime in goals. After this Stafford pushed on, great wing back play from Will Trotter saw Stafford win a penalty corner. Unfortunately the routine was not as slick as hoped and Stafford could not extend the lead.
A great result against a strong team, next week the second team are away against Finchfield HC.
