Stafford HC 2nd team consolidated their 2nd position in West Midlands Division 1 with a 5-2 away win against Kings Heath HC last weekend.
With a blistering start, Stafford really secured the points in the first 15 minutes with 4 quick goals. Stafford like to play quick counter-attacking hockey, the midfield playing quick ball to the forwards and following up to overload the opposition defence.
The first goal came after Andy Peatfield played the ball into Giles Rowden who turned and slotted it past the stranded keeper. After that Richard Bendall maintained his scoring record with a tap in after a couple of rebounded shots. James Ward then grabbed one after the ball was played into his path, a nice finish into the bottom corner.
Alex Peatfield then popped up from centre back to score the goal of the game, his run leaving the defenders trailing and he finished with a neat lob over the keeper.
After this Kings Heath woke up and scored two nice goals themselves, the first a fierce strike from a penalty corner and the second a tap in from a cross. The game then stagnated somewhat and there was a single Stafford goal in the second half when Rowden doubled his tally with a flick over a prone keeper.
Next week Stafford face Old Sills at home, 1.00pm push back at Beaconside.
