Mens First Team shortlisted for ‘Senior Team Performance of the Year’ at the Stafford Borough Sports Awards

Super proud to announce after an amazing 2016, our Mens First Team have been shortlisted for ‘Senior Team Performance of the Year’ at the Stafford Borough Sports Awards!

In an amazing 2016, Stafford HC Men’s First Team have gone undefeated at home, won two league titles, received behavior commendation and organised a series of community and fundraising events.

The commitment to playing as a team meant they ended the 2015/16 season as ‘West Midlands 1’ champions. The teams ‘high energy’ and attacking hockey saw them score 97 goals in just 18 games, but they also worked tirelessly defensively to conceded just 18 – leaving them with figures for the best attack and best defense. The team were also commended at the ‘Umpire Awards’ as one of the top regional teams for behavior and respect.

The positive hockey then led the team to finish divisional winners of the ‘Mercian Hockey League’ over summer. This season (2016/17), Stafford have played in ‘West Midlands Premier’ and close 2016 with the second best defense in the league, fifth best attack and just two points off the top of the league.

Alongside this, the team have organised events such as the family orientated ‘Beer, Music and Hockey Festival’ that works with local businesses, sponsors and invites the community to enjoy. The event also brings teams and players from around the UK to the area.
